Helen C. Shannon, 96, passed from this life on Thursday, October 7, 2021, in her home in Lower Paxton Township.  Born in Steelton, the daughter of John E. and Ruth A. (Deimler) Campbell, she lived there for many years before moving to Lower Paxton Township 6 years ago.  Helen was employed as the Head Bank Teller by the former Commonwealth Bank, later Mellon Bank, for 20 years before retiring in 1983.  Helen was a graduate of Steelton High School class of 1944, she loved to read, play bingo and go to the casino and take their bus trips.

            Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Elmer L. Shannon; a daughter, Bonnie Gutshall, and a sister, Dorothy C. Campbell.  Survivors include her daughter, Connie L. Abbott of Highspire; brothers, Robert C. Campbell of Harrisburg and John E. Campbell of Westland, MI.  Also surviving are a grandson, a granddaughter and 2 great grandchildren.

            Private services are entrusted to Hall & Stone Funeral Home, 112 N. Harrisburg Street, Steelton.  Please make memorial donations to either St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the Harrisburg Humane Society, Grayson Road, Harrisburg.
