Jerwyn T. “Jerry” Gerber, 94, formerly of Steelton, PA, passed away surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, in Maytown, PA. Born and raised in Elizabethtown, PA, and a 1945 graduate of Elizabethtown High School, Jerry was the youngest son of James W. and Daisy Snyder Gerber and brother to James W. and Jay C. Gerber, all whom preceded him in death. He was the widower of Marjorie L. Aldinger Gerber, to whom he was married for 63 years.
Jerry was a US Navy veteran, serving in the Philippines during WWII. He was the owner and proprietor of the former Steelton Hardware Co., a member of Centenary UM Church, member of the Central PA Sports Hall of Fame, Past President of the Steelton Lions Club, and a lifetime member of the Elizabethtown American Legion Post and Elizabethtown Order of the Moose.
Survivors include his children, Sandra L. Drayer and her husband David, of Steelton, Marsha J. Gehret of Highspire and Jeffrey T. Gerber of Harrisburg; his beloved granddaughter, Erin L. Drayer of Harrisburg; sisters-in-law, Doris A. Landis of Maytown and Gloria Gerber of Elizabethtown. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be celebrated in Henry Eberle Cemetery, 280 Lumber Street, Mount Joy, PA, on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 1pm, with his Pastor, Rev. Robert Ryder officiating. Full Military Honors will be observed. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in his name to the PA Wounded Warrior Inc., 1117 Country Club Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011. Arrangements entrusted to Hall & Stone Funeral Home, Steelton.
