Obituary for Richard L. Martin

Richard L. Martin,79, passed from this life on Sunday, November 12, 2023, in Spring Creek Health and Rehabilitation Center, Harrisburg. Born in Harrisburg, the son of George and Hope (Morett) Martin, he grew up and lived in Steelton for many years. Richard was a graduate of Steelton High School where he played football and lettered in all sports. He later lived in Dauphin County area for many years.

Richard’s passion was for fishing and hunting, he enjoyed spending time and playing with his grandchildren. He also loved spending time at the cabin located in White Haven in the Poconos and going to try his luck at the casinos. Richard was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Revenue as a Truck Driver for 5 years before retiring. Earlier Richard was employed as a Crane Operator for the former Bethlehem Steel Corp for over 20 years before their closure.

Survivors include his daughters, Elizabeth Lee Martin of Harrisburg and Cassandra Martin Moyer and her husband Shawn J. Moyer of Dauphin. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jack Martin Moyer and Lily Aldona Moyer; and his former wife, Cheryl F. Martin of Harrisburg.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated in Hall & Stone Funeral Home, 112 N. Harrisburg Street, Steelton, on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at 2pm with Pastor Mike Knapp officiating. Family will receive friends and relatives from 1 until 2pm Sunday. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Amedisys Foundation, 3854 American Way Suite A, Baton Rouge, LA 70816.

    Please accept our deepest sympathy for your loss. He was a one of a kind for sure. Uncle Dick was an Uncle growing up that always made sure there was something to do and you always had fun. He was the life of partys and gatherings and it was never boring when he was around. I have so many fond memories of him from a little girl into adulthood. He will be greatly missed
